  • Why Do You Write?

Have you ever asked yourself just why you write? Is it for yourself, for your family, for a publisher or for your readers? I think that many of us write for all these reasons, and also because we feel the need to write.

Writing is a way of getting the thoughts out of our head and onto paper, it's a good way of dealing with things that frighten us or excite us - it's also a way of communicating our thoughts to others. I am constantly surprised by writing and by the changes it can bring about in our lives. Do you ever ask yourself why you write?

  • Writing as a Solace

Sometimes life gets tough and many of us experience what we call writer's block. However, what I have found is that if you can write through the tough periods, get them down in your journal, metaphorically tear your hair out with a pen or keyboard, it helps.

Writing is a fun occupation which is sometimes hard and sometimes tough, but it can also be a way of putting the wrong things right. So next time you feel like crying buckets or thumping the milk man, try writing about it. You might come up with a winning poem about morose milk men, who knows! Whatever else writing might be, for the writer it is their life's blood.

  • Writing and Blogging

I have been writing for a long time and working as a freelance writer for about a year. I got into professional writing through starting a blog. There are some good ways to go about blogging and better tips than mine can be found here.

I am of course new to this site and no doubt will come across some more bloggers here as time goes by. I just happened on this site and as I am resident in the UK thought it would be a good idea to have a UK blog to go with my US blogs. I'd certainly like to hear from others on this site and be able to read what you have written.
