There comes a time in most writers' lives when they experience writer's block. I have been through this and what I have discovered is that it is not so much an inability to write as a resistance to getting started on some writing tasks. There are, however, some ways round this.

Take It A Step At A Time

If you are faced with a writing job and you just can't seem to get started then try using a kitchen timer. Set the timer for five minutes and start writing, I usually find that gets me over the worst of it and I can then get on with the job.

There are times however, when trying something a bit at a time just doesn't work, that's when you have to decide whether or not you are going to continue with the job or go and do something else for a while. If you still can't face it when you get back then maybe you shouldn't have taken the job on in the first place. The only way through this is to grit your teeth, write the stuff, and don't offer to write that type of content again and try to remind yourself just why you do write.
